2018 Commercial Real Estate Summit

By: J. David Chapman/August 30, 2018

It is time to register for the 2018 Commercial Real Estate Summit (https://www.cresummit.org/registration), hosted at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City on Sept. 20.

The organizers of this event are the Central Oklahoma Commercial Association of Realtors and the University of Central Oklahoma Real Estate Program. In its third year, this event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a host of national and international speakers.

The founders of this summit set out to recruit constituents in every area of the real estate industry. The program is designed to attract brokers, lenders, developers, appraisers, attorneys, urban designers, contractors, inspectors, assessors, title professionals, and just about anyone else remotely interested in commercial real estate. The purpose is to gather all these professionals in one place, at one time, to network, learn, and build relationships. It is a one-of-a-kind event in Oklahoma. Some of the proceeds benefit UCO’s Real Estate Program.

The summit begins with a breakfast session with experts giving a State and Federal Legislative Update. After the breakfast session, attendees will break into separate tracks throughout the day. The tracks are designed as tax and legal, development and investment, economic development, facility management, brokerage, and technology. Many of these sessions are sponsored and provided by CCIM, IREM, and other organizations covering hot topics such as marijuana issues and tax reform. The conference has been approved by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission for eight hours of continuing education.

The morning track sessions will be separated from the afternoon tracks with a luncheon. The keynote speaker for the luncheon is Glenn Mueller, an investment strategist at Black Creek Group and professor in the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at Denver University. Following Mueller’s address, the annual Pivot Awards will be presented in professional areas such as architecture, contracting, development, finance and brokerage.

Our industry needs this type of event. It is imperative that we continue to build relationships with one another and be careful not to create silos in our industry. We must cross professional lines and understand challenges in every area of the real estate field. We must continue to learn and look for opportunities where we might be able to bring value to our partners, customers, clients, employees, associates and companies. This is the event – register now.
