Recently the PIVOT Awards were presented at the annual Commercial Real Estate Summit hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma Real Estate Program. These awards are presented to real estate professionals who have made the most pivotal advances in our industry. We award PIVOTs to a lender, developer, public official, architect, broker, and title professional. We are so blessed to have many quality professionals; it is a difficult task to choose only one per category.

The PIVOT Award for real estate lender went to Amy Bailey. Amy is managing director at CrossFirst Bank, specializing in commercial real estate. She was instrumental in funding The Presley Apartments/Tower. The project was layered with complexity, but has given the blighted area around Lincoln Boulevard a resurgence. Congrats to Amy!

Richard Tanenbaum was awarded a PIVOT Award in the category of real estate developer. Dick is the principal owner and CEO of Gardner Tanenbaum. He is recognized for being a premier developer well-known for ambitiously repurposing, retrofitting, and redeveloping a series of dynamic projects for multifamily housing, aerospace, industrial and commercial developments. Thank you, Dick!

For public official, Larry Hopper Sr. was chosen. Larry was the senior planning manager of OKC. He is widely known for economic revitalization, urban planning, and transit/transportation planning with an emphasis on bus and rail strategies. The OKC metro area will enjoy the benefits of Larry’s work for generations to come. Thanks, Larry!

Anthony McDermid, founding principal, TAP Architecture, is celebrated for historic preservation and urban planning. Anthony specializes in sustainable design and comprehensive planning, creating projects such as the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Core to Shore Master Plan, and Old Central at Oklahoma State University. He does so with consideration of our effect on the environment and with social responsibility. Congrats, Anthony!

The PIVOT award was presented to Andrew Hwang, Esq., in the category of real estate broker. Andrew is co-founder and managing partner of Adept Commercial. He has 11 years of experience in commercial real estate investments, brokerage, and developmental real estate and serves as counsel real estate attorney with Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbinson and Lewis. Kudos, Andrew!

The PIVOT award for a title company professional goes to Dawn Brooks, commercial escrow manager at Chicago Title – Nichols Hills Office. Dawn strives to provide the best customer service through timely communication, integrity, and passion. Nice work, Dawn!
