Network and learn: 2022 CRE Summit

By: J. David Chapman/September 22, 2022

Are you looking for a way to give back to the real estate industry, learn the latest trends, and network with other real estate professionals? The seventh annual Commercial Real Estate Summit will be held on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11. The first CRE Summit was held in 2016 at UCO. It is fitting that the summit be at UCO because all proceeds from the event go to the UCO Real Estate Program Foundation to support students and faculty in the UCO Real Estate Program.

The summit was designed to provide networking and continuing education to the entire commercial real estate industry. It was created as a place for real estate brokers, lenders, appraisers, architects, contractors, inspectors, attorneys, underwriters, planners, developers, surveyors, assessors, builders and investors to come together in one place, at one time, to network and learn. I don’t know of any other place created specifically to take such a deep dive into the hottest topics and biggest issues in our industry.

This year’s theme is “Connecting Communities” with two tracks titled “Challenges & Opportunities” and “Connecting our Future.” Keynote speaker Jason Ferbrache, assistant city manager of OKC, will present “Cultivating Transit Oriented Development with the Regional Transportation” at lunch. The lunch break also will provide an opportunity for program promoters to award the coveted Pivot Awards to an architect, developer, broker, escrow officer, lender and public official.

The program includes educational breakout sessions all day. The sessions include: “What it Takes to Start Your Own Brokerage” with a speaker panel; “Developing Community Equity & Overcoming Funding Hurdles” with Jonathan Dodson; “Thinking Outside the Box” with Richard McKown; “Oklahoma City’s Progress Updates for PlanOKC Zoning Project” with Marilyn Lamensdorf; “Commercial Lending: Lender Qualifications for Commercial Real Estate Development” with Zachary Painter; “Unintended Consequences Impacting the Cost of Real Estate” with Darin Dalbom; “Crypto Currency for Real Estate Transactions” with a panel; “How to Fund Affordable Housing Developments” with Darrell Beavers; and more!

Whether you attend the 2022 Commercial Real Estate Summit to network and build your real estate business, to get continuing education for licensing, to support and meet the real estate students at UCO, I hope to see you there on Tuesday, Oct. 11. You can register for the summit at https://2022cresummit.eventbrite.com.
