David Chapman Full Bio

First and foremost David Chapman is husband to Julie Chapman and father to Jennifer and Ryan.

Dr. Chapman is the former Ward 1 City Councilman for the City of Edmond. He also serves as a Commissioner on the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. He is a Professor in the College of Business Department of Finance at the University of Central Oklahoma teaching Real Estate and Finance as is Assistant Chair of the Finance Dept. He has taught numerous courses in Management Information Systems, Asian Studies, and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Chapman is founder of Realty1, LLC, an innovative real estate firm with divisions performing real estate brokerage, property management, resort construction and management, real estate investment and commercial and residential construction. He is active in every area of the firm. The firm has employed as many as 30 employees and has sales in excess of $25 million annually.

The Chapman’s also owned a mortgage company from 2006 to 2009 that produced loans in excess of $20 Million annually with 4 employees. The company was successfully sold in 2009. He owns Ryno Properties that has acquired and manages a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio including office buildings, apartments & single-family homes.

In 1992 Dr. Chapman founded Technology Solutions Inc. dba: ExecuTrain of Oklahoma. This technology training company grew into a multi-million dollar company with locations in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The company was a four-time winner of the coveted “Oliver Kiss Award” for performance in quality, sales and profitability. ExecuTrain of Oklahoma was the sixth fastest growing privately owned company based in Oklahoma City from the period of 1992 to 1995 with a growth rate of 234% earning the company the “Metro50 Award” in 1996 and 1997. More recently the company was name to the OVF50 being one of the 50 fastest growing companies in the state. The firm had as many as 75 employees and had sales in excess of $4 million annually. The company was successfully sold in June of 2001.

Dr. Chapman served as a Chairman for Vistage International, a world-wide organization focusing on increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the lives of CEOs. In his role of Chairman, he has exposure over a ten year period to over 60 of Oklahoma’s top CEO talent and the opportunity to coach and facilitate their challenges and issues. The firm had local sales of $350,000 annually and two employees.

The Chapmans were named the Small Business Administration’s “1997 Small Business People of the Year” and represented Oklahoma in the national competition held in Washington, D.C. In both 1996 and 2001, Mr. Chapman was named in the Metro Journal’s “40 Under 40” as one the forty future leaders in Oklahoma City under the age of forty.

From 1999 through 2001 Dr. Chapman hosted a weekly TV show called “Expert Talk Technology” spotlighting the latest technology, the companies using the technology and the companies bringing it the marketplace.

Dr. Chapman’s educational background consists of a PhD from Oklahoma State University, Master’s Certificate in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University. He is licensed by the FAA as a Commercial Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor as well as a Airframe and Powerplant mechanic.

Dr. Chapman came to ExecuTrain of Oklahoma after spending five years on contract to the U.S. Air Force through General Dynamics Corporation where he trained United States and foreign Air Force pilots, engineers, and maintenance personnel on the technology of the F-16 Fighter. During his 5 year tenure at General Dynamics Corporation he held titles of Mechanical Engineer, Field Service Engineer, and Finally Project Engineer for the Korean Fighter Program.

Dr. Chapman served as President of the Association of Information Technology Professionals in 1995 and 1996. He has served three terms on the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors serving as Vice-Chair for Small Business on the Executive Committee as well as Chairman of the Small Business Steering Committee. He also served on the Business Advisory Boards of OKC Metro Area MLS, Goodwill Industries of Oklahoma, Bank of Oklahoma, PanOak Communications, Advanced Academics, and Regents Bank. Mr. Chapman is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City Class XVI, Leadership Edmond Class 36 and an active member of Henderson Hill Baptist Church.
