2023 Commercial Real Estate Summit Pivot Awards

By: J. David Chapman/October 12, 2023

This week, Pivot Awards were presented at the annual Commercial Real Estate Summit hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma Real Estate Program and sponsored by Gardner Tanenbaum. These awards are presented to real estate professionals who have made the most pivotal advances in our industry. This year we awarded Pivots to a project manager, developer, public official, attorney and appraiser. We are so blessed to have many quality professionals; it is a difficult task to choose only one per category.

The Pivot Award for real estate project manager went to Trait Thompson. Trait is executive director at the Oklahoma Historical Society. However, before taking that role he spent six years overseeing the restoration of the state Capitol, a project that required a combination of political maneuvering, business management, and historical knowledge. Congrats to Trait!

Matthew Myers was awarded a Pivot Award in the category of real estate developer. Matthew is the owner of Switchgrass Capital. He has been instrumental in the renaissance taking place in downtown Edmond. He has deployed creative urban designs leveraging community involvement and public art, as well as innovative financing techniques utilizing tax-increment financing and opportunity zones. Thank you, Matthew!

For public official, Josh Moore was chosen. Josh owns Moore Quality Homes and served four years as the Ward 2 Edmond city councilman. Josh served his community during one of the most difficult times in history – the COVID pandemic. Josh made the most of his time on the City Council, making monumental changes that Edmond residents will benefit for generations to come. Thanks, Josh!

Todd McKinnis, attorney with Rubinstein and Pitts, is celebrated for his work representing developers and real estate property owners on highly complex zoning and property rights issues. Todd can be found many evenings presenting to city council and planning commission meetings around the state of Oklahoma. He does so with respect and consideration of all parties involved and shows social responsibility to his community. Congrats, Todd!

The Pivot award was presented to Darin Dalbom, MAI, in the category of real estate appraiser. Darin is owner of NPVal LLC. He has over 30 years of experience in commercial property valuation and recently was appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt as a member of the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency board of trustees. Darin has deployed innovative valuation techniques as well as pioneering methods of managing his appraisal business. Nice work, Darin!
